An educational residency with Broadway choreographer and artist in-residence, Kim Craven, presented by Festival Napa Valley in partnership with Napa Valley College Performing Arts. Additional support provided by Festival Napa Valley for a professional Equity actor (TBA) to serve as a cast mentor throughout the production and show run.
WHAT: The cast of the NVC Performing Arts production of As You Like It will work with Broadway choreographer, Kim Craven to prepare numbers from the show during this week-long residency. The residency will consist of workshops and rehearsals with Craven in which the cast will learn the numbers she will choreograph. The musical adaptation of the Shakespeare play will be directed by Jennifer King, NVC Theater and music directed by Christina Howell, NVC Music.

WHO can participate: The cast of the NVC Performing Arts production of As You Like It. In order to be included in workshops led by Kim Craven, participants must be a part of the cast.

HOW to register: Students in the core cast will enroll in both the college-credit MUSI 170 and THEA 156 class. These classes are a part of the AA and AA-T degree in music and theater respectively. These classes – organized through Napa Valley College Performing Arts and led in music by Dr. Christina Howell and in theater by Jennifer King – give students the opportunity to prepare and present main stage musical theater works as a part of their college curriculum. Those in the expanded class will register for the non-credit class MUSINC-754. The classes will culminate in a series of performances March 21 – 30, 2025.

As a bonus part of this residency, Festival Napa Valley and Napa Valley College will also sponsor a masterclass with Broadway actor, Ryan Silverman.
