Who Can Audition?
Open to all NVC students and community members (high school freshmen and up).
What to Expect
- Sign in at 5:00 PM – auditions are first come, first served.
- Sign-in sheet will be open until 5:30 pm
- Singing: Learn one of the songs from the link below.
- Follow this link for specifics and tutorials.
- Speaking: Memorize and present a 1-2 minute comedic monologue
- Callbacks: Friday, November 7 at 5:00 PM in the Main Theater.
Rehearsals & Performances
- Music Rehearsals: December 8–13, 2025
- Regular Rehearsals: Mondays–Thursdays, 4:30–7:30 PM, starting January 21, 2026
- Performances: February 27–March 8, 2026 (plus two school matinees)
About the Show
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim bring together everyone’s favorite storybook characters for a timeless, modern classic. This Tony Award-winning work is both enchanting and deeply moving.
The story follows a Baker and his wife who long for a child, Cinderella who wishes to attend the King’s Festival, and Jack who hopes his cow will give milk. When the Baker and his wife discover that a Witch’s curse prevents them from having children, they set off on a quest to break it. Each character’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them with disastrous results.

Conflicts
We expect every cast/crew member to commit to the rehearsal and performance schedule. If you have a conflict with any regular rehearsals, please let the directors know on your audition form to determine if you will be able to participate in this production.
Mandatory dates:
In addition to the performances listed above, please note the following mandatory rehearsals.
- Week of 2/17 for Tech Week 1
- Saturday 2/21 (10-2pm, Sitzprobe)
- Week of 2/23 for Tech Week 2
- There will also be 2 student matinees.
Cast members will receive copies of the detailed rehearsal and performance schedule after the show is cast.
Enrollment
Into the Woods is part of two production courses. Those who are cast in Into the Woods will need to register for both THEA 153 and MUSI 170. More information will be available after casting.
