Directed by Sharon Winegar
Emily Dickinson comes to Napa Valley College in the form of The Belle of Amherst, a one-woman show by William Luce and starring Jennifer King, NVC’s Faculty Chair of Arts and Humanities.
Presented by the Napa Valley College Theater Arts Faculty Series and Shakespeare Napa Valley, the play is set in Dickinson’s Amherst, Massachusetts home, using Dickinson’s poems, diaries and letters – recollecting encounters with the significant people in her life.
Based on the original production at Sonoma Arts Live, which garnered critical acclaim for its May 2019 run, King was recently nominated for Best Actress from the Sonoma County Marquee Theater Journalists Association for her portrayal of Emily Dickinson.
